This Katana is simply AMAZING and I couldn’t be more satisfied about this blade. It’s a piece of art. Well wrapped and certificate in the box. I strongly suggest this company, great customer service. I even had the chance to talk directly to the Kinzan and he explained me the forging process and the geometry. I have talked a lot to resellers in Canada and US before I choose to by from Skyjiro, at this price I wanted to be sure. Every resellers had the same opinion on the quality of these pieces. Now that I have it in my hands, it’s even better looking than from the pictures on the web. Cheers Skyjiro, great job!.

My Katana is a work of art that is masterfully crafted with impeccable specifications. I went with the 30 inch blade length with BoHI. This comes with the 12 inch Tsuka. Weight (without Saya) is 2lbs.& 5 3/8oz. The balance feels wonderful. I could not be more pleased!
Carl Sampogna –
What kind of Hamon does the Mikado Class Taka (Hawk) come with? I am partial to the sambonsugi type or something very similar. Also do you make Nagasa around 27” ?
skyadmin –
Yes we can do that
Carl Sampogna –
What is the type of Hamon that is on the picture of the Taka Hawk?

I have been wanting this sword for three years and finally pulled the trigger. It was a week late getting here (guess that’s what happens when you place your order right before a nationwide blizzard) but worth every penny and hour! This blade is a true masterpiece and the perfect crown jewel to my collection! What a work of art, thank you SkyJiro

because of supply chain issues, my delivery was delayed. i was promised 1-2 months by Danny initially, and it arrived 3 months later.
However, it was worth the wait. The attention to detail for all the fittings (koshirae) were perfect and immaculate. The ito was ultra tight and meticulously wrapped. there was no flaw in the tsuba, seppa, habaki, fuchi. The saya was perfectly fitted on the koiguchi for the blade too, no rattle. no attention to detail was spared. 10/10 on fittings alone.
Now for the blade itself. i must first say that the pictures are low resolution on the stock pictures, and it doesn’t show the thousands of layers on the tamahagane, my particular taka katana displays the matsuka grain pattern on the hada and it is gorgeous beyond words. i’m extremely happy that i received such a complex hada, since the stock image is currently displaying what appears to be itame pattern instead. although i’m sure i would have been happy no matter what was given.
now the most different aesthetic difference…the hamon! Mine was so much more agressive and pronounced in the lines, displaying a notare midare wave, whereas the stock images shows a cho-suguha hamon. I’m much more thankful for this, and im really bad my blacksmith particularly made all these difference’s for me.
one important thing of note, they description of the katana weight didnt match mine, which i weighed in at 2lb10oz. i got the 2.37 shaku(28.4in) blade without a bo-hi, which is the shortest they offer on the site. it says 2lbs 4oz on site, which I can only imagine that weight WITH a bohi. i speculate that more tamahagane was used in my blade (thanks :D), as the kisane feels thick and stout.
this Taka katana is now the pièce de résistance of my collection, and it will be a family heirloom i will pass to my children down the road. thanks again for everything skyjiro. i will most likely buy future skyjiro swords, but some at the lesser grade lines

oops phone autocorrect, was supposed to say “matsukawa grain pattern” on the hada
